Paul Baker
Paul grew up in Lawton, OK. He attended Lawton High School, Cameron State College, and received a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1966 and a MS degree in Industrial Engineering and Management in 1968.
Following graduation, Paul began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in their management development program. He was granted a leave of absence to join the US Army Corps of Engineers where he served two years in Heidelberg, Germany as a Post Engineer for the US Army headquarters. In 1970 he returned to SW Bell where he served several locations throughout Oklahoma finishing his career as a District Manager.
He purchased Emrick’s Van and Storage, agent for Allied Van Lines, in Enid in 1977 and took a vested retirement from SW Bell. In 1980 he purchased another moving company in Oklahoma City and in 1990 grew into the Tulsa market. The company had four trucks and six employees when he purchased it but has experienced a large growth in employees, vehicles and sales with warehouses in Enid and Oklahoma City now. The company performs local, interstate and international household goods moves, office and industrial moves, has a record storage center, and has a commercial storage division.
Paul has been married to his junior high sweetheart, Nikki, for nearly 54 years and they have two children and six grandchildren.
Paul is a proud member of the Cherokee Nation, and is a board member of Enid Rotary club, State Chamber of Commerce, Enid and Oklahoma City Chambers of Commerce, along with Allied Van Lines Agents Association board of directors. He has served as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Enid and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Enid.
While at OSU he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, Chi Epsilon, honorary
Civil
Engineering fraternity, Blue Key and received the Saint Pat’s award given to the top
ten school of Engineering seniors. At Cameron he was on a football scholarship and
was a member of the 1961 National Championship Junior Rose Bowl team.
