Welcome to IEM

Welcome to the School of Industrial Engineering and Management!  Industrial Engineers (IEs) design, build, operate and improve production systems by producing goods and/or services for customers around the world.  An education in the industrial engineering discipline opens the door for men and women, like you, to enter this fascinating and challenging world of producing worthwhile things (good and services) at competitive prices for domestic and international markets.  As IEs, we focus on both the quality of what is made and how it is made, as well as the productivity of the processes used.  Our program awarded its first degree in 1926 and is one of the oldest IEM programs in the world.  We are committed to providing you with opportunities that will prepare you for professional practice.

Why IEM?

Industrial Engineering (IE) is about choices.  Other engineering disciplines apply skills to very specific areas.  IE gives you the opportunity to work in a variety of businesses.  The most distinctive aspect of IE is the flexibility that it offers.  Whether it's shortening a rollercoaster line, streamlining an operating room, distributing products worldwide, or manufacturing superior automobiles, all share the common goal of saving companies money and increasing efficiencies.

Support IEM

IEM has been fortunate to have had the resources and support that have made it possible to recruit, train and produce leaders in our society. As beneficiaries of that support, it is now our turn to ensure that IEM continues to produce the same caliber of leaders that are needed in academia, government and industry alike. To benefit the next five generations, IEM launched a $20 million campaign. We have made good progress towards this goal!
