Ryan Miller

Engagement, Coordinator

Ryan is originally from southwest Oklahoma and received his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University where he joined Sigma Pi Fraternity and was very involved in student leadership. After graduating from OSU, Ryan attended The University of Iowa and received a Master of Arts in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies: Higher Education and Student Affairs. While at Iowa, Ryan supported the 150-year-old fraternity and sorority community as a Graduate Research Assistant. Before joining the Student Services team, Ryan served as the Assistant Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Ryan volunteers for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors and the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values in various roles while not going to concerts, trying new food, and hanging out with his cat.

Hometown: Fletcher, OK

High School: Sterling High School

College: Oklahoma State University (BUS) and The University of Iowa (MA)

Hobbies: Reading; going to concerts; trying new places to eat; making sure my cat is given enough attention, so he doesn’t turn against me

Favorite Music: Pop/hip-hop – Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Lil Kim

Favorite Movie: The Devil Wears Prada

Favorite Book: The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

Something not everyone knows about you: I’m an only child and I’ve never broken a bone! (But I have had two kidney stones, wouldn’t recommend.)

Favorite Quote: “Change is the healthiest way to survive.” – Karl Lagerfeld

Best Advice for College Students: Try something new that you wouldn’t typically do and learn about something that challenges your beliefs and identities—you don’t have to change your beliefs but having more knowledge is always good.

Favorite OSU memory: One of my favorite things about being an alumnus is walking through the Formal Gardens by the Union and seeing the paving stone with my name on it from my service to the Interfraternity Council while in undergrad; it always makes me think about so many great memories that came from one decision.
